Project summary.

Kangaroo Bay Parklands is an iconic park located in Clarence on Hobart’s eastern shore.  SLS worked with landscape designer Playstreet and the Clarence City Council to successfully deliver the flagship park facility in the area complete with barbecue and picnic areas, sailing boats and water play, elderly exercise facilities, table tennis table, basketball area, walking paths and landscaped lawns and gardens.

The concept of the design was inspired by the area’s historic links to fishing boats and river crossings, with net play and wooden fishing boat play pieces all facing the Derwent River and with a brilliant view looking across the river to Mt Wellington/Kunyani.  Project highlights include the large picnic shelter, a large water play zone, and granite cobblestone breakout paving areas.

It has proved to be a parkland for the whole community to enjoy, voted the best playground in the state multiple times.
